DOUGLAS HANNANT,
New York Fashion Designer Extraordinaire!
Made-to-Order One-of-a-Kind Hand Beaded and Sequinned Dressmaker Evening 3/4 Coat

Encouraged by Geoffrey Beene and inspired by Halston,
Douglas Hannant started in the fashion industry as a merchandiser.
His design philosphy is about striking a balance.
He wants the women he dresses to
look modern and polished at the same time
that they feel comfortable and relaxed.

HANNANT's goal is redefining luxury for the modern American Woman.
Luxurious fabrics, incredible attention to detail
& impeccable finishing.
Sportswear inspired designs with "dressed-up" sensibilities.
Among the many celebrities who wear his collection are Natalie Cole and Bette Midler (off-stage!)

Fall 2011 Douglas Hannant gave his Fall show a Jazz Age spin
cloche hats by Eric Javits on the models, Nina Simone on the soundtrack
but, he said backstage before his show at the Plaza, I couldn't agree more. And what does Hannant need with themes, anyway?
His clients are after gowns for museum parties and smart skirtsuits to wear to fashion shows.
There were plenty of both.
We love many of the jackets worn with classic gray flannel underpinnings

Here is an extraordinary Totally Beaded & Sequinned 3/4 Coat that takes my breath away!
The beading and sequining is outlined in a gold metallic thread.
the sequins are Charcoal Gray, & Dark Brown
The beading and Sequins and extraordinary wire stitchery create the look of sparkly Bark on a Tree.
It is so imaginative and clever - I've never seen beading quite like this
Because of the darkness and geometry of the work, it takes some of the formality out of this metier.
The Pointed wide collar is a Dark Brown Quilted Velvet that matches the fold-back cuffs,
the outlining on the slash pockets and the stitched on 2" Wide Tie Belt at the waistband
Fully lined in matching Dark Brown Charmeuse
No hardware at all
Brown Quilted Velvet edges the front panels of the coat
I think it looks best belted, but you could fasten the belt in the back like a trench should you prefer
Tagged a Size 14 and no fabric labels - this was a custom Made-to-Order One-of-a-Kind piece.
Retail was well over $6,000.
34" Long from center of neckseam to hemline
Bustline is 44" end to end
Hipline is 44"
Hemline is 54" and seems to be cut on a bias
Long inset sleeves are 26"
Will fit a Size 12-14 with style
It does not have a hugely full cut and when worn over a dress or a sweater will fill in some of the looseness.>

This is a true treasure!
Douglas Hannant has a very private and specialized clientele and does not get to the secondary market often
In its own way it is just as spectacular and rarified as CHADO by Ralph Rucci
HANNANT is an amazing American Designer - one of very few originals left!
It is a SENSATIONAL addition to your Wardrobe
