Alber Elbaz, starting a new collection
went back and began looking at Jeanne Lanvin's sketches again.
What Elbaz came across was a sheaf of illustrations of Lanvin's wide-shouldered thirties gowns
and that was enough to set him off on a path of intense cutting research,
which led to one of the strongest advances in modern dressing to come out of the Paris shows.
This refers to the Ready to Wear Collection from Spring, ETE 2007
That striking silhouette formed the core of the collection, but Elbaz didn't leave it there.
His other contribution to the growing desire for concise but luxurious design
was in the unexpected detailing

Here is a very simple but exceedingly beautiful Black Jacket from the Hiver 2006 Collection
It features a a High Round Neckline that has aa silk liner and a small fringed detail
The Fabrication is a 78% Wool & 22% Viscose
fully lined in Black Silk
It has an inner lining as well so, although, not heavy or ultra warm it does have a cushiony feel to the material
Black Snaps Down the Front from Neckline to hemline
The Plaquette is edged in a small Fringe on both sides of the invisible snaps
Inset Fitted Shoulders and long straight Sleeves
Each cuffline has 5 Black Velvet Covered Buttons as an extra detailing
This has a slight texture to the fabric and is very interesting when you look at it very closely
Designed to best show the curves in your figure
Back is absolutely plain, but you can see the lushness of the farication from every angle
